People have many different types of view and ideas about Church Planting. Church Planting for us is to form a group of new disciples, regularly meet them in certain place for fellowship. Church for us is, the need of common place where everyone is honored, care for and given equal opportunity and access. Especially, in context of social discrimination and untouchable culture, we need church that is mutual place for everyone.
The need of the Church
When wife is believer and husband is not, or husband is believer and wife is not, it is difficult to imagine their personal prayer life. And what about if group of believers and converts come to this family for a prayer meeting or Bible study. They would be welcomed or one of them, who is not believer, could be mad. Sometime, either one do not like Christians come in to their home. Follow ups is important for the growth of the new converts. For instance, if low caste person accepts Jesus Christ, high caste person hesitate to enter the low caste person's home. This is very common in Nepal. In this case, common place is needed for prayer meeting, word and for food.
Apostolic Church in the Bible was living Church. Here what it says: All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity--all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. Acts 2:42, 46, 47.
Another reason for having a common place for fellowship is when gathering place is too small for everyone to keep; you need building or bigger place. Where high cast and low cast together, can sit in same place and enjoy service together, which is the true meaning of the Church, the body of Jesus Christ.
We focus on people rather than place and we meet anywhere. We go to a house in village and pray for the sick. People get healed and they start to believe in miracle power of Jesus Christ. New comers see the power and they start to believe God. So, we need a place where people can come together without hesitation and worship the Lord.
Why do we plant church?
We plant Churches because it is the central part of God's mission: We believe that church planting is central to world mission. It is a New Testament strategy. The church is a company of people who love Jesus and are filled with the Holy Spirit, is God's master plan for demonstrating His grace and power and wisdom to the world.
We plant Churches because of the Need: There are spiritually lost people all around us who need to know Jesus. Only the church has the good news of God's love in Christ which they desperately need. Each locality deserves to see radical Spirit-filled churches, and Christians living out the gospel among them.
We plant Churches because of our Mission: We have been given a Great Commission to 'go' and we believe church planting is one of the most effective ways of fulfilling this command. We cannot wait for the world to come to the church. We can take church to where the people are, by pioneering new groups and planting new churches.
Nepal is made up of villages. Village Church seeks to establish strong harmonious relationships with other Christian Churches in the area. It’s not our intention to attract people who are already committed members of other churches; our priority is to join with other Christian groups and strengthen current strategies for demonstrating the love of Jesus to the communities in which we live.
We need place where people can come together and worship the Lord. It's not about building; it's about the saved souls coming together in one place to worship God in spirit and in truth.
